Chartering a boat has become very popular for many. It's convenient and allows individuals to cruise Puget Sound, San Juan Islands and the Canadian Gulf Islands in style without the stress and cost burden of ownership. They say the average boat owner uses their boat 3 to 5 time a year. Hard to believe but for the occasional boater, chartering may be just the ticket.
A second option is leasing. This works just like a timeshare. You pay a fee to enroll and receive training. You pay a monthly fee and you get the benefits of ownership without the yearly maintenance and expense.
